A review of Take 5 Cafe is long overdue. I have been going to Take 5 for a few weeks now, and have never encountered a bad Americano. Actually, I’ve been very impressed with everything I’ve had there. Ianiv has noted one occassion of a slightly watery Americano, but I have yet to experience this. The coffee is super smooth with a nice whole bodied flavour. Never bitter or tart. I like that it is both bold and subdued at the same time.
I really love the atmosphere of the cafe. Slightly upscale, really comfortable, and so well designed. The materials are top notch – I especially love the little corner nook with the couches, chairs, and table. Great for casual meetings. And for that ‘wow’ factor.
I have had food from Take 5 on a couple of occasions. I have had one sandwich, amazing bread and really outstanding and creative fillings, as well as a very yummy cookie. Roland has given high praise to Take 5 food and coffee, and I intend to go back more often for a lunch of soup & sandwich. The prices for the food are higher than most cafes, but well justified in the gourmet quality you receive.

I like it there too… very pleasant atmosphere, nice staff, great food, quite cheap. Have the spinach salad.
Last week the nice guy who took my order didn’t ask me if I wanted something to drink. When I mentioned that I’d like a juice as well, he winced and said, “I’m sorry — I should have tried to upsell you.”

I disagree, I tried the coffee at one location and it was not good at all. It tased like cheap coffee. The staff were unfriendly and did not pay attention to me while serving at all. They were busy chatting with each other.
Maybe I was not there at the right time??? Anyway, there are many other good coffee shops in Vancouver to go to…

I love the coal harbour location at Nicola/Pender. The new owners are super friendly & the service is superb. Quick, courteous & since I’m a regular, I get discounts everytime!! lol…
I’ve tried all of their food, pastas, salads, paninis, and baked goods. Try the oatmeal bars – they’re delicious!! They even do catering!!!
Can’t say enough good things…

My favorite is the West 4th location. Talk about quaint…cozy seats and free wireless. It’s always busy but I manage a spot. The $2.00 latte is a steal….at that price I can afford to add an extra shot if I need a caffeine kick….and I always add an Addiction Bar to my order. All I can say is the name of the bar says it all! I’ve been to the downtown locations as well,,,,they are all top notch without ridiculous prices. A little more than some, but the fresh food and yummy desserts are worth the extra pennies!

Not at all recommended especially if you’re a vegetarian. I ordered a vegetarian wrap at the Hastings location and was served one with bacon in it. What especially angered me was when the server brought it to our table, I asked again to make sure it was the vegetarian offering as it did not appear to be made with the same tortilla as the ones in their display case. He assured me it was. He was wrong. Nitwits didn’t display any care or concern. Didn’t even offer me my money back. Emailed head office with a complaint and no reply.
