Coffee Review: Level Ground Trading
Related entries in Coffee ReviewsLevel Ground Trading was formed to make sure that coffee farmers received a consistent, fair return for their work. They also support sugar cane growers with their Panela sugar brand. The founder of the company had grandparent coffee farmers in San Miguel – enough experience to spur the creation of the company. Other support offered back includes education, school improvements, jobs for women and health benefits.
Our mission is to trade fairly and directly with small-scale producers in developing countries, and to market their products offering our customers ethical consumer choices.[Level Ground]
Unfortunately, it was not an espresso-based drink being served. And the drip variety was stored in the large canisters. Aside from those drawbacks, I think the coffee was decent. I added sugar, but did not need milk. I like my coffee a tad bolder, but I think this was a case of the aforementioned serving issues.
I look forward to trying this coffee again. From what I can see, it’s a retail brand. It’s unfortunate, since I would love to try it in a cafe. Perhaps they will offer a cupping if they read this (hint hint).

you can get this coffee at the Thai express (as in Thai away home without the male side of ownership)
I think this is on ontario/5th in Vancouver….
I had a nice cup and it was pretty old actually…

Tried their whole bean coffees twice, dark roasted Tanzanian (for some reason all the stores selling the brand in my city don’t carry medium, even though it’s an east african bean…) and medium roast peruvian (Not fond of peruvian, but I wanted to give their medium roast a shot).
Overall so-so, better than the average retail whole bean coffee but nothing close to the stuff with 90+ reviews on coffeereview (which are not more expensive).
One issue is that even their “medium” roast is dark… roasted to the point that the beans are very oily and dark brown. Their dark is around a northern italian roast, for the tanzanian this is a real shame as it kills all the character.

Good to see that people are still posting, even though are avenues keep getting blocked, and we have to keep up the pressure. I managed to get my automated reply from the Beeb yesterday about the 2nd Stage yada, yada yada…. big fob off….
