Wicked Cafe
Related entries in Coffee Education, Coffee ExperiencesWe’re sitting in Wicked Cafe right now, enjoying a warm fall day with a nice cup of coffee and lunch. The sandwiches here are amazing. And the cafe has a nice atmosphere with lots of open windows, and even some great photography showcased right now from Kris Krug. We’ve been here a few times before, and have even had a nice chat with the owner, Brad.
A couple of days ago he let us know that he will be holding Intelligentsia tastings at the cafe. Brad is the new Intelligentsia rep in Vancouver, so I think that’s just great. I think he’s accomplished a lot in the coffee world in the last few years, approaching coffee with a passion and dedication, but also with a lot of fun.
So, if you want to taste a great roaster and to understand a little more about coffee, join us at Wicked Cafe on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30. The tasting for this month has been pushed to October 4th, so come out and learn!

I went with my sister to Wicked Cafe today for the first time. I had an americano with a peanut butter nanaimo bar. I though the americano had a bit of an acidic taste to it; at least more than other places I frequent. However, the rich nanaimo bar offset this very nicely. I really like the interior here, and I agree that the photography up right now is really cool.
Now that I take the b-line to ubc, I notice a few nice looking coffee places, like higher grounds, and grounds for coffee. anything to say about these ones?

Wicked is indeed wicked. Having free wifi is a good touch. They’ve got a brand new LaMarzoco Espresso machine which is quite nice.
Higher Grounds is a good spot, coffee is not as good, the wifi is fickle, but a good spot otherwise.

I didn’t like my latte. The espresso was weak and milk tasted off. But a really loved the muffins and I’ll be back for them!

espresso was not great but it is a nice place. Some good food. Another nice spot along the b-line route. As for grounds for coffee the coffee is not great at all. There cinnimon buns on the other hand… I found up by the sasamat stop, think! coffee lounge and bistro was also very nice. Their espresso was great, the barista that served me made me a beautiful latte, and they have lots of good looking sandwiches. wicked.

The latte art isn’t bad either.

Wicked Cafe is hit and miss. I often find their Americanos on the weak side (but I still go back). I never go to Higher Grounds so I can’t help you with that one. Grounds For Coffee is one of my personal fav’s. I am addicted to their cinnamon buns and their Americanos are the best in town. Think Cafe has permanently closed down.
