Whereabouts in Calgary is your coffee shop? I am a huge fan of Blue Mountain coffee and would love a coffee shop here that serves it. I normally buy my coffee online which is fine but sometimes you want to go and have it in an establishment.

As for blending – don’t blend Blue Mountain – it’s definitely not a cool thing. Having a decent cup of estate quality is a taste worth paying for. Reserve and Cuvees are also good. One rule – no paper cups for the Blue Mountain.

Hi,
I have just opened a coffee shop in Calgary and am trying to find a blend that everyone will like. Any suggestions?
I am considering Jamaican Blue mountain, but not sure on the price yet. I would like to stick to organic coffee beans though. Please email me your suggestions and I hope you help me make my coffee shop special where you would like to come and have a brew !

We are loyal customers for the past 3 years at your denman and davie store ( west end vancouver, b.c.)
Your staff…..Bill and Danny along with the regular girls are excellent examples of your well run corporation.
We have recently sold our vancouver condo and will return to West Vancouver, tomorrow in fact.

I wish I would have had the oportunity to work for an organization as yours with 30 years commercial and residential real estate background and previous to that owner/ developer of 6 discount retail stores in B.C.Any openings? I’m a fit young 60 with an impressive resume.

I’ve tried Jamaican Blue Mountain offered by Mavis Bank (see http://www.jamaicabluemountaincoffee.com). I purchased green beans and roasted them at home. The coffee I purchased was good but it was also about four times the price of comparable quality coffee. The quality of JBM isn’t always that great – some years are better than others.

Starbucks over roasts its coffee. They do so for a reason. The higher roasts have a stronger flavour, and mask the flaws in poor quality beans. Macdonalds has the best quality coffee offered by chain outlet (in my view). Want good coffee? Try buying a small home roaster (around $100), and roast your own green beans. Top quality green beans can be sourced from a number of suppliers for about $5.00 a pound. Brew he coffee using a coffee vacuum (Yama makes one for about $50.00).

Sorry people, I’ve tried them all. Starbucks is the worst coffee ever. Why punish yourself. I’ll go as far as saying JJ Bean is the best coffee in Vancouver.

It’s funny while Starbucks Coffee is or will be selling $1 dripped coffee, Blenz Coffee steams ahead and open another brand new store in Manila (the Philippines) where I just had my vacation. It was nice, almost like home, Vancouver that is. The ambiance was a lot better than those in Vancouver, strange enough. Although they still have their weird over sized sofa that I detested for a number of years. The coffee were exactly the same. They even had a bit of latte art thing going. Much like Starbucks Coffee, I think Blenz is experiencing an image problem even as far away as Manila. It was evident in their (I think newly created) posters. Those absolutely horrific posters were so poorly designed and so poorly worded. After being in business for so many years, you would think they would know better. My God, don’t you people have any sense of art. Their marketing department was probably sleeping. I think their marketing department needed a cup of strong coffee like those “red eye”espresso/dripped coffee combos that are so popular in L.A. Either that, they terminate these people and hire some real professionals. What I hate most are retards in marketing, design that they think they know everything but in reality, they know nothing. My God people, open are eyes and smell the coffee. No pun intended.

i’m ok with the trial, but line-ups…like the one i had at the whistler starbucks, i’m not so ok with. btw, they apparently trialed this outside of the city a few years back in maple ridge. didn’t work.

Gentle friends, why argue about bad tasting coffee beans when there is the world’s best. I would suggest to you all to think of operating a coffee shop to introduce persons to good quality Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. Yes it’s a bit pricey but I’ll try to supply at a reasonable price.

I am not picky of where I get my coffee as long as it doesn’t taste terrible and is reasonably priced….$1.30 is a good price, though now most coffee cups at regular are $1.75. Going to $1… I don’t think will do any amount of good for Starbucks in the long run.

I think $1 for a starbucks coffee is way too expensive. The coffee is crap and too burnt – they should be selling it for 15 cents a cup.
People that like Starbucks coffee are morons that have never travelled to Italy and tasted what coffee should be.
